WAYNE GRETZKY/CONNOR MCDAVID PASSION FOR WINNING 20X24

Putting up great numbers is one thing. Being a captain and team leader is another. Putting both of those together is an accomplishment and honor reserved for a select few. True leaders care about the success of the team and not the individual, and the Oilers are blessed to have one of the best leaders in the history of hockey in Wayne Gretzky. Indications in the early career of Connor McDavid appear to point in the same direction of greatness. While Gretzky captured the Hart Memorial Trophy as MVP while notching 137 points in his official rookie season of 1979-80, McDavid recorded 48 points in 45 games in a rookie season (2015-16) that was cut short by a broken clavicle.
