Before Penny Hardaway came to the NBA as the third overall pick by the Orlando Magic in 1993, there had been big point guards who were nightmare matchups for the opposition. But there weren’t that many as talented as Hardaway. Perhaps only Magic Johnson (6-foot-9) and Oscar Robertson (6-5) were better point guards who stood above 6-4 than Hardaway. Following an All-America career at Memphis, he joined Shaquille O’Neal and talented roster of veterans to make the Magic a perennial contender in the Eastern Conference. He earned four All-Star Game appearances in an Orlando uniform before also being a hit at several other stops, including some great years in Phoenix. He finished his career averaging 15.2 points, 5.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
