Throughout his career, Dennis Rodman was known as “the Worm”, but the nickname had nothing to do with basketball. Due to his short height, the five-time champion did not even play much basketball growing up, as he was benched and cut throughout high school. However, Rodman spent a lot of his free time as a kid playing pinball. He was constantly twisting and turning while playing, so his mom came up with “the Worm”. A big, sudden growth spurt allowed Rodman to play basketball in college, where he dominated enough to be drafted by the Detroit Pistons. From there, the name stuck throughout his Hall of Fame career. Starting with his time with the “Bad Boy” Pistons, “The Worm” found his niche to become arguably the greatest rebounder of all time, as well as one of the NBA’s biggest personalities.
This image is autographed and inscribed “The Worm” by Dennis Rodman with a silver paint pen. Rodman’s signature and inscription were witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process. This item is limited to 25.
