As one of the more highly touted young talents in all of hockey, the goals and expectations for Quinton Byfield to represent Team Canada in the IIHF World Junior Championships had been set since he was a child. In the 2020 WJC, hosted by the Czech Republic, Byfield took the opportunity to play for Team Canada in the WJC and never looked back. Powered by Byfield and Alexis Lafrenière, Team Canada displayed both the most stifling defense and the most electric offense within the tournament which catapulted them to a victory over Russia 4-3 in the Gold medal game. With this WJC victory, Byfield sparked resurgence within Team Canada as they won their third Gold in the past decade and IIHF-record 18th Gold medal all time.
