The ABA had only been merged with the NBA for four years when the 1980 All-Star Game took place at the Capital Centre in Maryland. So it came as no surprise that the former ABA players shined brightly that night. Led by his own head coach, Billy Cunningham, Julius Erving led a group of former ABA stars. He scored 11 points in 20 minutes with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Fellow ABA alum George Gervin scored 34 points with 10 rebounds and earned game MVP honors as the Eastern Conference captured a 144-136 win in overtime. The 1980 season ended with Dr. J posting the top scoring average (26.9) of his career. Thirteen years later, he was elected into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. Dr. J has autographed and inscribed “HOF ’93” on this limited edition (25), 1980 NBA All-Star Game, authentic Mitchell & Ness jersey in silver paint pen. His signature and inscription are deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated’s Five-Step Process.
