Every college basketball player dreams of playing on the big stage of March Madness. As a freshman, Dereck Lively was sure to shine for the Blue Devils in their tournament run in March 2023. Lively managed to grab 23 rebounds and eight blocks in Duke’s two games of the tournament. His big game was Duke’s victory over Oral Roberts University, where he managed 12 rebounds, six blocks, and four points. Lively’s big time performance led Duke to their victory with a final score of 74-51. Lively and the Blue Devils fought hard and made it to the round of 32, where the University of Tennessee eliminated them.
