Held in Medicine Hat and Swift Current, Canada, the 2019 U-17 World Hockey Challenge played host to some of the brightest young hockey stars in giving them their first exposure towards international competition. After becoming the first overall pick in the 2019 OHL Draft, Shane Wright had all attention on him to see how well he’d perform within the international ranks. At the tournament, Wright was fortunate enough to be reunited with his former AAA teammate Brennan Othmann who played a role in helping Wright score four goals and seven total points in just five games while representing Canada. Wright’s remarkable display of speed, skills, and shots at the U-17 World Hockey Challenge gave him the confidence boost necessary to go on to having one of the more impressive rookie seasons in OHL history.
